PCB Stencil
What is the use of a Stencil?
The function of the solder paste stencil is to accurately deposit the correct amount of solder paste onto the surface mount pads. This makes them, so a solder joint between the PCB pad and the component terminal is acceptable in terms of the electrical connection and the mechanical strength.
What are the different types of Stencil?
There are two types of stencils – Framed and Frameless.
What is a Framed Stencil?
PCB Power introduced framed stencils for SMT, semiconductor and solar industries. The fine grade polished SS technology ensures relatively no burrs on the hole walls and a mirror-like finish that helps the paste flow evenly across the surface. We guarantee aperture size accuracy of +-5um and positioning accuracy of +- 10um. For boards with fine pitch components, we recommend additional F3 Nano Coating for better throughput.
What is a Frameless Stencil?
Frameless SMT Stencils, also called foils, are laser-cut solder paste stencils designed to work with stencil tensioning systems known as reusable stencil frames. This particular type of Stencil works even if it is not permanently glued to the frame. Frameless stencils are significantly less expensive than framed stencils and provide money-saving storage while still delivering superior quality and performance.
Why do I need a different stencil for the Top & Bottom Side?
If the SMD components are on both the sides of the PCBs, the stencil paste has to be applied on both sides.
How does the thickness of the Stencil affect PCB Assembly?
The accurate thickness of the stencil sheet ensures the release of the desired amount of solder paste through the opening. The thickness of the sheet and aperture size are important factors that affect the amount of solder paste to be deposited on the board since extra solder deposition can cause solder bridging. On the other hand, less solder deposition can create weak solder joints, which affect the functionality of the final PCB board.
Can I reuse a stencil?
Yes. We fabricate metal stencils which are well-suited for repeated use.
Can I get a Stencil of a panelized Data?
Yes, you can fabricate a single stencil with different designs.
How do I decide on what Stencil Printer to use?
If you do not have the PPM Stencil Printer, please select the option "Others".
Component Sourcing
What is a Bill of Material?
A bill of materials or product structure is a list of the raw materials, sub-assemblies, intermediate assemblies, sub-components, parts, and the quantities needed to manufacture an end product. A BOM may be used for communication between manufacturing partners or might be used for internal consistencies in a single manufacturing plant.

PCB Assembly
What is an SMD Component?
A surface-mount device or SMD is an electronic device for which the components are mounted or placed directly onto the surface of the PCB. An SMT component is usually smaller than its through-hole counterpart because it has either smaller leads or no leads at all.
What is a Through Hole Component?
Through-hole technology (also spelt "thru-hole"), refers to the mounting scheme used for electronic components that involve the use of leads on the components that are inserted into holes drilled in printed circuit boards (PCB) and soldered to pads on the opposite side by the manual assembly (hand placement).
What is a BGA Package?
BGA stands for Ball-Grid Array. It is a type of surface-mount packaging system primarily used for integrated circuits. This package is helpful in permanently mounting devices on microprocessors. It provides more interconnections than dual-line or flat packages.
What is a TQFP Package?
TQFP stands for Thin Quad Flat Packages and is suited for customers that are looking for cost-effective and yet standardized packages. You can still choose from a range of body sizes and lead counts to customize the package.
What do you mean by “Assembly Side”?
When we ask you to denote the ‘Assembly Side’, we are trying to understand on which side you want the components assembled – the top, the bottom, or both the sides.
What do you mean by “Stencil Side”?
You will need this information only if you have SMD components. If you are not using SMD components, none of the sides on your PCB would require a stencil.
Do you do the assembly on an Automatic Line?
Yes, we do have an in-house assembly pick & place unit at Gandhinagar, Gujarat.
